Business Bank Account

At this time, you should open a business bank account if you have not done so already. It is a good idea to keep your business funds separate from your personal funds.

Planning Your Opening

  • When you think you are almost ready to open your doors, it might be a good idea to plan a grand opening. This event does not have to be over-the-top. In fact, you want to make sure that you don’t blow too much of your yearly budget on this one day. A lot of times the grand opening can be treated as a big marketing push, but you still want to make sure you have enough money to market your business after the grand opening.

  • After you have decided the budget for your event, you should pick a date. You probably want to set a date a few months in advance, to make sure everything else is going to finish on schedule. You may want to consider holding your grand opening celebration a few weeks after you have already opened. Business owners often do this in order to work out any kinks and make sure operations will run smoothly on the big day. Also consider that your grand opening day should not fall on a big holiday and that it is during the hours when people would normally shop at your business.

  • There are many ways to promote your event, including online, on the radio, or in the newspaper. In addition, you can create a Facebook event for your opening completely free of cost. This is a great way to start spreading the word.
